Section Specificaties
Mixer Section – Mono Channel
- The Devine Vertix C10A has two identical mono channels that support mono audio sources such as instruments and microphones.
- The input ports are hybrid sockets that are compatible with both 3-pin XLR and 6.35 mm TRS jack audio plugs. Both inputs can be used at the same time.
- The mixer section includes control options to ensure the correct settings for the connected audio sources. Start by flicking the Mic/Line switch into the correct position depending on the connected audio source. The detailed 3-band equalizer controls can then be used to adjust the high, mid and low frequencies. A Reverb and Echo effect can also be added. The higher the Reverb setting, the more intense the effect applied to the audio source becomes. Reverb is a common effect used by vocalists to add more depth and improve the sound. Often, only a low Reverb setting will be enough.
Mixer Section – Stereo Channel
Stereo line signals can be connected to the stereo channel via the following inputs: 3.5 mm TRS mini-jack, stereo RCA and 6.35 mm TRS jack. These input ports can support an array of external audio sources. The mini-jack input (often referred to as an AUX input) can be used to connect devices like smartphones, tablets and laptops. The stereo RCA input is often used to connect equipment like DJ controllers. The TRS jack input can be used to connect equipment like a professional mixing console, a DJ mixer or instruments like keyboards or digital pianos.
- Since every connected stereo source would be linked to a single channel, it is recommended to only connect one stereo line audio source at a time. To adjust the level and shape the sound, the stereo channel is fitted with a volume control and a 2-band equalizer.
Kanał Bluetooth
The Bluetooth Channel of the Vertix C10A is unique because it has two operating modes:
- Standard Bluetooth. This mode is for standard Bluetooth pairing. Here, you can pair a Bluetooth-capable device to stream music, backing tracks or samples to the Vertix C10A for wireless playback.
- Hold down the Bluetooth button on the mixer panel until the blue LED flashes indicating that the system is ready to be coupled. No password is required to pair a device with the system but your device may ask for pairing confirmation. Following confirmation, your device is paired and you have full control over the playback, volume etc.
- When a device has been paired and Bluetooth streaming is in progress, a second device cannot be paired to ‘take over’.
- TWS True Wireless Stereo. This mode can be used to pair two Vertix C10A systems via Bluetooth to complete a stereo system before pairing a Bluetooth device like a smartphone to the stereo system. This makes it possible to stream music, backing tracks and/or audio fragments through two systems at the same time. The advantage of using TWS is that the audio is streamed in stereo, where the left and right channels of the stereo audio signal are split between the two systems.
TWS can only be used when two systems of the same make and model are paired. This means it cannot be used to pair the Vertix C10A to systems of a different make and/or model to form a complete stereo system.
- To use TWS, first make sure that both Vertix C10A systems have been switched on and that there is no active connection with any external device via standard Bluetooth. Now, make sure that both the Bluetooth playback volume and Master volume levels of both systems are open and set to a low level.
- The Bluetooth button on the rear panel of the Vertix C10A is coupled with a blue LED indicator. When the LED is not lit, Bluetooth is inactive. When the blue LED is flashing, Bluetooth is active and open for pairing. When the blue LED is continuously lit this indicates that Bluetooth is paired.
- When using TWS, one C10A system serves as the ‘Primary’ and the other C10A system serves as the ‘Secondary’. This means that the Secondary system is both paired with the Primary system and is also open for pairing with an external Bluetooth capable audio source.
- To pair the two systems, hold the Bluetooth button of the Primary system down to activate the Bluetooth and open it for pairing (until the blue LED flashes). Now, hold the Bluetooth button of the Secondary system down. When the blue LED of the Secondary system is lit continuously, the link between the two systems has been established.
- The blue LED of the Primary system will now start flashing, indicating that the Bluetooth is open and ready to be paired with an external Bluetooth-capable device.
- Now, you can follow the normal steps to pair a Bluetooth-capable device to the Primary system to play back the sound via the two systems at the same time.
NOTATKA:
- Please be aware of the signal strength and limitations of Bluetooth connections. When performing for a small audience in an open space and when not too many wireless devices are in use in close proximity, a relatively stable signal with a maximum range of 20 metres can be achieved.
- The signal range and stability can be interrupted by environmental factors such as objects and/or people standing in the ‘line-of-sight’ between the systems and paired equipment, as well as the presence of other equipment that operates over the same 2.4 GHz frequency.
Informacje zawarte w niniejszej instrukcji obsługi mogą ulec zmianie w dowolnym momencie i bez powiadomienia:
- When using TWS mode, music can only be played back through the stereo system via wireless Bluetooth audio device. It is not possible to connect an external audio source via a connection cable and transmit this to the Secondary system. To do this, the two systems would need to be connected via a physical cable, or an external wireless transmitter would need to be used.
- The TWS method is therefore more suitable for less demanding situations. For example: when only background music is required. When the system is used to amplify multiple audio sources or used at more professional events or live venues that demand maximum reliability and stability, then it is recommended to use cables.
Sterowanie główne
- The Master controls can be used to set the total output volume of the Vertix C10A. This section includes both a Master volume control knob and a Subwoofer volume control knob. When the system is only set up to amplify speech, the lower frequencies produced by the subwoofer are less necessary, so it is advised to lower the Subwoofer volume to ensure clarity. When playing back music it is recommended to turn the Subwoofer volume up to a higher level to give the music more depth.
- This section also includes a Power and Limit LED indicator. The Power LED remains continuously lit when the system is powered on. The Limit LED indicates the status of the built-in limiter. When the output is pushed to a level close to the maximum capacity of the system, the Limit LED will turn red (and usually flash) to indicate that the maximum limit has almost been reached. As the output level gets closer to the limit, the red LED will stay lit for longer and the internal protection circuits of the system will be activated to prevent damage.
- When the red Limit LED lights up, immediately reduce the Master volume to a lower level to avoid permanently damaging the system.
Sekcja DSP
- The Vertix C10A features a built-in DSP (Digital Signal Processor) which offers Music, Live, Hi-Fi and Speech presets so the sound can be optimised for a specific application.
- Press the Mode button to scroll through the presets. The selected preset is indicated by the LEDs lined up above the Mode button.
Wymieszaj
- Using the Mix Out section, a second Vertix C10A can be connected via a cable to create a dual-mono configuration. When connected, the built-in mixer section can be used to manage all audio sources and effectively control the two systems.
- Link two systems by connecting the second system to a mono channel input of the first system, making sure that the sound controls of the channel are set to a neutral level; that the same DSP preset is selected on both systems; and that the Master and Subwoofer volume of both systems are set to the same level.
- If using an external audio management system, such as a DJ mixer or PA mixing console, the left stereo channel of the mixer can be routed through the first system and the right stereo channel of the mixer can be routed through the second system to retain a left and right stereo image.
Przełącznik włączania/wyłączania
The On/Off switch can be toggled to power up and power down the system without unplugging the power cable.
Tomtage Przełącznik
NOTATKA: tomtage switch is set to 230 V as standard and does not need to be adjusted during normal use.
Systems like the Vertix C10A are initially designed for international use and/or distribution. However, different voltages may be in use in different regions. The Devine Vertix X10A is set to operate at 230 V as standard because this is the standard voltage used in Europe.
Power Input via IEC C13 with Integrated Fuse Compartment
- Via the power input, the Vertix C10A system receives power so that it is able to operate. This power input features an integrated fuse compartment. Never try to open the fuse compartment when the system is in use, even if the fuse needs replacing.
- Always unplug the system from mains power and disconnect the power cable before checking the fuse. If the fuse is broken or appears to be broken, always replace it with a fuse of the same type and with the same value. Installing a fuse with a different value can result in premature fuse failure or may prevent the fuse from being tripped in the event of any electronic issues.
Column Module Assembly

- Once all of the components have been unpacked from the box, you should have four modules that can be assembled to build an operational system. The base of the column system is the subwoofer module, which features a built-in mixer. Start by placing the subwoofer where the system needs to be set up.
- It is not recommended to move the system after assembly.
- When the subwoofer is correctly positioned, stack the two dummy columns on top via the fitted couplers to create height for the top module.
- The dummy columns do not feature any speaker components and only serve as spacers. There is no specific order in which the dummy columns should be stacked.
- The dummy columns can only be slotted into the specialised couplers one way. For example: they cannot be mounted upside down. When the dummy columns have been securely slotted in so that they cannot shift, they have been correctly installed.
- When the dummy modules are securely installed, the heaviest top module can then be placed on top.
- It is recommended to build the column in this way rather than, for example, connecting everything when laid on the ground or on a table before mounting it onto the subwoofer module. Assembling the system in this way will apply too much weight on the couplers at once and may result in breakage.
- Always assemble the system module-by-module and break it down in reverse order by first removing the top module, then the two dummy columns one by one.
- Technically, it is also possible to mount the top module directly on top of the subwoofer module to build a compact system, or use only one dummy column. This can be a great solution for more compact and simple applications, such as amplifying background music.
- For most applications where optimum performance is required, such as live music, the original and complete assembly is recommended. This will create enough height to efficiently disperse the treble frequencies. Treble frequencies quickly dissipate when they collide with any objects, so it’s best to project them over the audience. This also helps balance the sound, as the trebles will be able to reach the ears of audience members more efficiently.
- Note: Because the module couplers are made of plastic and feature metal pins that pass on the electronic signals, a small amount of movement is always possible. In practice, this means that when you place a hand against the top module, it can always be shifted very slightly to the left or right. This is normal. However, always avoid applying excessive horizontal force to the system and column modules.
Mieszkania
- The Vertix C10A column speaker housings are made using various different components and materials. The housing of the subwoofer base is made from wood, while the mixer on the rear has been mounted in a metal panel. The column module housings are made of heavy-duty plastic and the top module has been fitted with a metal front grille to protect the internal speaker components. While the housings are designed to withstand regular, mobile use, they are not designed to withstand falls and/or collisions with sharp objects.
- During use, in storage and during transport, always ensure that the column modules are unable to fall or collide with any objects that may cause damage.
- A set of compatible bags is available (not included) for protecting both the column modules and subwoofer module from superficial damage when in storage or transit.
Krata
- The subwoofer module and top module of the Vertix C10A both come fitted with a protective grille. This grille should never be removed by the user.
Subwoofer Module Handle
- The top of the subwoofer module is fitted with a handle, which has been positioned next to the coupler for the column modules, making it easier to move and position the module. The top module can be transported separately. It is recommended to use the compatible satellite bag for this.
- It is never recommended to move the subwoofer module when the dummy columns and top module have been installed.
Konfigurowanie systemu
- For the best results, always set up the system so that the sound is pointed where it’s needed. Often, it is recommended to place the system against a flat wall or in a corner. Ensure that the location you’re setting up in is clear, has an even floor and has sufficient capacity to support the system. Position the system in such a way that no audience members are able to collide or make contact with the column or touch any of the settings – especially in situations where you are unable to monitor the system at all times.
General Instructions for Optimum Use
- If you are using a PA system for the first time, this section will be useful for learning how to use all of the built in features of the Vertix C10A and ensure the best possible audio reproduction.
- The information below includes tips per section and a summary of possible audio sources as well as general instructions about how to work with different audio source types and audio processing.
Tom
- The Devine Vertix C10A system is able to produce a volume level that may lead to permanent hearing damage over both short and long periods of time. Always use this sound system with care and limit the volume whenever possible.
- Always make sure the volume is set to a comfortable listening level for the human ear.
- Devine cannot be held liable for any damage or injury caused by high volume levels.
General Microphone Tips
- Always position the microphone grille directly in front of the mouth of the speaker or vocalist (approximately 5 cm away) to ensure that the sound of their voice is captured as efficiently as possible. Speaking loudly and clearly into the microphone to ensure that as little gain as possible is required is also recommended. Using a directional microphone is also recommended because they are less sensitive to sound coming from the sides and back.
- When using the microphone, never stand in front of or too close to any speakers and make sure to apply the correct microphone technique as described above.
- When the microphone is pointed at the speakers or over-amplified, this can result in a feedback loop. A feedback loop occurs when the microphone is able to pick up and re-amplify the sound coming through any nearby audio speakers.
- The sound is then amplified ‘on a loop’, resulting in a high pitched and often piercing sound.
Korzystanie z korektora
- The initial function of an equalizer is to correct an incoming or outgoing audio signal so that its frequencies sound balanced. In practice, an equalizer is often used to adjust an audio signal to match the personal taste of the performer or sound engineer, so it is less about correcting and more about creating a specific quality of sound.
- When equalising speech, it is recommended to turn the bass frequencies down to ensure clear intelligibility. When equalising background music that’s being played at a low volume level, it is recommended to turn the treble frequencies down a little and turn the bass frequencies up a little to create a warmer sound.
- In normal situations, it is recommended to set all tone controls to 0 dB (the 12 o’clock position) or to only make small tone corrections.
- If the tone controls are set far above the 0 dB level, note that this can result in distorted sound. It is therefore recommended to only use the tone controls to make small corrections rather than turning the knobs all the way to the left or right.
- Notatka: An equalizer cannot perform magic. Anything that’s not already included in the original signal cannot be added (for example, extra bass cannot be added). Turning the equalizer settings to too high a level may cause the internal amplifier module to start clipping. This means that the maximum capacity of the system has been exceeded. Prolonged clipping can cause permanent damage.
- The Vertix C10A system features built-in DSP presets designed to calibrate the quality of sound to match the audio source being amplified. By selecting the correct preset, small tone corrections are applied automatically.
Gain Structure and 0 dB (Unity) Without Amplifikacja
- When connecting audio sources with a measurable output up to the system, it is recommended to adjust the settings of the source to a level that never sends too powerful a signal through the audio chain. Ideally, the audio source would always be set at 0 dB – also known as ‘Unity’. This makes sure that the original signal is neither strengthened or weakened.
- If the output level is set too high (too high a level is usually indicated by the red LEDs of DJ equipment) this creates an over excessive signal that will need to be processed further down the chain, which can lead to overload and distortion of the master signal.
- When connecting audio sources that have a less detailed volume control, like a smartphone or laptop, it’s recommended to experiment with volume levels between 75 % and 100 %. If this doesn’t activate the Limit LED and sounds good, then the right volume setting has been achieved.
- The input volume of any equipment that doesn’t come fitted with a volume control, like cabled microphones, must be carefully tested. As long as the microphone technique described above is observed, then the optimum volume level should be found with relative ease.
Dealing with Maximum Capacity
- It is important to be aware when the Devine Vertix C10A system has reached its maximum capacity. This can be indicated by the built-in amplifier module that drives the speakers as well as the mechanical capacity of the speaker components.
- If there is any audio distortion, then this is a good sign that the maximum capacity has been reached. In the event of any audio distortion, the Limit indicator will usually also light up.
- If the audio is distorted or the Limit indicator is lit, immediately lower the Master volume of the system until the issue is no longer detectable.
- To properly calibrate the system, it is advised to test the system and to make sure that none of the connected audio sources are in danger of delivering an overdriven signal under normal conditions.
- A good method is to set and test the system before use to make sure that there is no danger of overload under normal conditions. You can do this by balancing the sound of the connected audio sources before turning up the Master volume until a light amount of audio distortion can be detected or the Limit LED is lit. Now, slightly reduce the Master volume so that no distortion can be detected and the Limit LED remains unlit.
- It is then recommended to slightly reduce the Master volume again. This creates a little headroom between the Master volume level and the maximum capacity so that, should the signal of a connected audio source suddenly delivers a light peak, this won’t cause any issues or audio distortion and will not trigger the Limit LED.
- This method does not guarantee zero distortion. This is why it is always recommended to constantly monitor the system when in use.
Using Bluetooth and Other Wireless Connections
- Current technology makes it possible for more and more audio to be wirelessly transmitted, including the Bluetooth function and True Wireless Stereo function of the Vertix C10A. However, for professional applications, it is always advised to consider whether or not a cabled setup is more suitable. Especially for applications like live performances, where the sound needs to remain reliable, stable and uninterrupted.
- While wireless signals are more stable than ever, there is always a danger that other surrounding signals can interrupt and disturb the wireless signal.
- Whether working with microphones or streaming music, if there is the option of connecting external audio sources using cables, then this will always be preferable. Especially when it’s essential that any disruptions be avoided.
- From a professional perspective, a cabled connection is preferred over a wireless connection. Unless the situation does not allow for a cabled connection.

- If you happen to encounter any problems while using your speaker system, we recommend checking this troubleshooting section to see if a solution can be found. If none of the suggested solutions included below solve your particular problem, please contact your local retailer for further advice.
- This troubleshooting section includes all of the most common possible issues and is not a complete list of every possible fault, defect, and their subsequent solution. This section is generally focussed on solving problems regarding active speaker systems. Because product specifications can differ, some of the included problems, causes, and solutions may not apply to your situation.
| Problem | Możliwa przyczyna | Rozwiązanie |
| Speaker is not switching on | Bezpiecznik jest uszkodzony | Check the fuse, found in the compartment beneath the power input. If it is defective, replace it with a fuse of the same value and type. |
| Problem with power cable | Check that the power cable is securely connected and plugged into an active power socket. Try replacing the power cable with a similar model to check if the original power cable is defective. | |
| Speaker not switched on | Check that the power switch is in the ‘On’ position. | |
| Dioda zasilania nie świeci się | If the speaker is connected to an active power socket, the power switch is in the ‘On’ position and the fuse is not defective, then there may be a problem with the speaker. Switch the speaker off and contact your local retailer for further advice. | |
| No input sound | Cable not securely connected | Check that the input connection cable is securely plugged into the speaker and microphone or external equipment. |
| Switch incorrectly set | Make sure that the input channel switch is correctly set to Line or Mic depending on the connected equipment. | |
| No sound from the Master output | Volume control is turned down | Slightly turn up the Master volume. |
| Red Limit LED is flashing or continuously lit | Volume is set too high | Turn the speaker volume down or turn down the volume of any connected audio sources.
Prolonged exposure to signal overload can cause permanent damage. |
| Heavy distortion or crackling | Connected equipment is outputting a distorted signal | Make sure that any connected equipment is not outputting a distorted signal and reduce the volume where necessary. |
| Volume is set too high | Ścisz |
| Problem | Możliwa przyczyna | Rozwiązanie |
| The Treble and Bass controls are set too high or too low | Set the tone control to the 12 o’clock position and check if the sound is still distorting. | |
| Woofer or tweeter is defective | If the speaker is exposed to a distorted or too powerful signal for a long period of time, this can cause permanent damage. If you suspect that the woofer or tweeter is damaged, contact your local retailer for further advice. | |
| Sound it flat and dead | Tweeter is defective | Set the speaker to a comfortable, low volume level and place your ear next to the tweeter to check it’s still generating sound. If not, then it may be defective. Contact your local retailer for further advice. |
| 3-band EQ incorrectly set | Check the equalizer controls. If the treble is turned all the way to the left, then set it back to the neutral 12 o’clock position. | |
| Very little bass | Music has no lower frequencies | It may be that the music being played back has too few lower frequencies. Try playing some different music through the speaker and if necessary, adjust the equalizer to give the audio more depth. |
| Incorrect DSP preset | When the Speech DSP preset is selected, the audio reproduction is focussed on maximum clarity. The presence of heavy bass frequencies would disturb this. Try using a different DSP preset. | |
| Subwoofer level incorrectly set | The volume of the subwoofer can be independently set. If the subwoofer volume is turned too far to the left, then this can limit bass frequency reproduction. Slowly turn the subwoofer volume down, step by step to see if this solves the issue. |
