- Ensure the Eheim prefilter's internal sponges are correctly seated within its two sections.
- Connect the top section of the Eheim 6664 Prefilter to the end of your external filter's intake tube. It should fit snugly.
- Position the prefilter in your aquarium, ensuring it is fully submerged and stable.
- Once installed, you may restart your external filter.

4. Konserwacja
4.1 Cleaning the Prefilter
Regular cleaning of the prefilter is essential to maintain optimal flow and filtration efficiency. The frequency of cleaning will depend on your aquarium's bioload and debris levels, but typically every few days to once a week is recommended.
- Turn off your external aquarium filter.
- Carefully remove the Eheim prefilter from the intake tube while it is still submerged in the aquarium to minimize mess.
- Press the grey button on the side of the prefilter to separate the two filter baskets.
- Remove the white filter sponges from each basket.
- Rinse the sponges thoroughly in a bucket of old aquarium water (water removed during a water change) to preserve beneficial bacteria. Avoid using tap water directly, as chlorine can harm beneficial bacteria.
- Clean the plastic filter baskets of any accumulated debris.
