Środki ostrożności

OSTRZEŻENIE:

  • Do not place fingers near the level wind when fishing, as this may cause injury.
  • Do not touch the line when it is coming out at high speed, as it may cut your fingers.
  • Do not place your fingers on the spool when the line is coming out at high speed, as this may cause burns or pinch injuries.
  • Ensure the line passes through the narrow part of the T-shape level wind when winding line or untangling backlash.
  • If the leader knot gets caught in the narrow part of the T-shape level wind, remove it with your finger. Engaging the clutch in this state may cause damage.
  • Always disengage the clutch during casting to prevent injury from the lure not flying out.
  • Keep fingers and clothing away from gaps between the handle and body to prevent pinching injuries.
  • Ensure the line does not touch the reel body when winding, as it may damage the line or reel.
  • Securely fix the reel to the reel seat. Do not use if loose or cannot be fixed, as it may detach during fishing and cause injury.
  • Keep out of reach of infants and children to prevent unexpected accidents or injuries.

OSTROŻNOŚĆ:

  • This product is designed for fishing purposes only. Do not use it for other applications.
  • While designed and manufactured to high strength standards, extreme loads beyond expectations during actual fishing may cause damage.
  • When snagged, do not force the rod. Instead, wrap the line around a stick-like object and pull to break it. Forcing the rod may cause it to break.
  • Strong impacts, such as dropping, may cause damage. If the rod butt is impacted while the reel is attached, the reel foot may be damaged.
  • Do not lubricate the one-way clutch part of the reel, as this may cause the handle to reverse and injure your hand.
  • When long-casting with a drag-equipped reel, ensure the drag is tightened to prevent finger injury from slipping line.
  • Continuous use of the drag for extended periods may cause the drag housing to become hot and cause burns.
  • Do not turn the handle while the clutch is pressed in. If the line is locked and the handle is turned with the clutch pressed, it may damage the clutch, stopper, or gears.
  • Grease and oil are applied to rotating parts of the reel. Be careful not to stain your clothes.
  • The indicated line capacity and winding condition may vary due to line diameter, tension changes during winding, and operating clearance.
  • If the surface layer (paint, plating) or material surface peels off, do not touch that part, as it may cause injury.
  • Do not use organic solvents such as thinners, benzene, alcohol, insect repellents, sunscreens, or insecticides. Also, do not handle the reel with these substances on your hands, as they may alter the reel's surface or peel off the paint.
  • We cannot guarantee malfunctions caused by attaching non-genuine parts. Repairs may be refused if non-genuine parts are attached.
  • Specifications and design may change without notice for product improvement.
  • Avoid using excessive drag beyond the maximum drag force, as it exceeds the reel's intended strength.
  • Strong loads during transport may deform parts like the handle. Handle with care during packaging and transport.
  • Always remove the reel from the rod when storing.
  • If the reel is not used for a long period (several months or more), it is recommended to periodically move the operating parts.
  • For reels with drag, loosen the drag before storing after fishing. Storing with the drag tightened may crush the drag washers and reduce performance.
  • Dry the reel in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight before storing. Leaving it wet in a sealed, humid space (e.g., car trunk, dashboard) for a long time may cause corrosion.
  • Storing the spool with wet line (especially saltwater) may cause corrosion. Rinse the line winding area with tap water to thoroughly wash off saltwater, then dry.
  • Do not store the reel with wet line wound tightly, as the line may shrink when dry and damage the spool.
  • Do not place near heating appliances, as resin may melt, deform, or deteriorate, causing malfunction.
  • Do not stand on the reel or place objects on it, as this may cause malfunction.
  • Do not leave in saltwater for extended periods.
  • Do not leave with fishing bait attached for extended periods.
  • When snagged, do not press your finger on the spool to break the line, as this may deform the spool.
  • Elastomer-based lures in contact with the reel may damage paint or resin parts.

Initial Adjustment: Zero Adjuster

Before starting fishing, adjust the "Zero Adjuster" to the "Zero Setting" to ensure comfortable fishing without malfunctions during your trip.

  • The "Spool Play Zero" setting refers to the minimum setting where the spool is not pressed, leaving a slight play (approx. 0.2mm).
  • This reel is shipped with the spool position set to the "Zero Setting" from the factory.
  • To easily check spool play, firmly grasp the spool with two fingers (top and bottom) while the clutch is disengaged.
  • The Zero Adjuster tightens clockwise and loosens counter-clockwise.
Zero Adjuster diagram
Figure 3: Diagram showing the Zero Adjuster and spool play (approx. 0.2mm).

Spool Removal and Installation

  1. Loosen the screw in the center of the Magforce adjustment dial on the side plate by turning it counter-clockwise. (The screw is designed not to fall out completely).
  2. Rotate the side plate downwards as shown in the diagram to remove it.
  3. To install, reverse the steps, ensuring the side plate is securely reattached.
Spool removal diagram
Figure 4: Diagram illustrating how to remove the spool by loosening the screw and rotating the side plate.

Nawijanie linii

  • Tie the line to the spool as shown in the diagram. Ensure the line passes over the pillar.
  • If the line passes under the pillar, the TWS effect will not be fully realized.
  • Do not use tape to secure the line, as it may unbalance the spool and cause abnormal noises ("booming", "keening").
  • For PE Line: To prevent the line from slipping on the spool, wind the line around the spool 3 to 5 times, then tie it securely. After tying, confirm that the line does not slip even when pulled strongly, then begin winding.
Line winding diagram
Figure 5: Diagram showing how to tie the line to the spool, ensuring it passes over the pillar for optimal TWS performance.

Wymiana uchwytu

Notatka: For left-hand retrieve models, the handle nut is reverse-threaded. Exercise caution.

  1. Loosen the screw (counter-clockwise) with a commercially available screwdriver and remove the handle cap.
  2. Tighten the star drag, then use a commercially available wrench to loosen the handle nut (counter-clockwise). (For DAIWA RCS baitcasting reel genuine optional handles, a tool combining a screwdriver and wrench is included).
  3. Remove the handle arm and replace the handle. Use a wrench to attach the handle nut, tightening it firmly clockwise. Ensure the handle nut aligns with the groove in the handle cap.
  4. Attach the handle cap and tighten the screw clockwise with a commercially available screwdriver.

Handle Knob Attachment

This reel is compatible with S-size knobs.

  1. Insert a washer and a collar (ball bearing) onto the shaft, then insert the knob, followed by the remaining collar (ball bearing). Use a commercially available Phillips screwdriver to firmly tighten the screw.
  2. Ensure the second collar (ball bearing) is securely seated in the knob.
  3. If there is significant play in the handle knob, add a washer (included with DAIWA genuine RCS optional handle knobs) at position A as shown in the diagram. (Be careful not to add too many washers, as this may prevent the handle knob from rotating).
  4. To remove the cap of an I-shaped knob, use the tool included with DAIWA genuine RCS optional handle knobs to hook into the cap hole and pull it off.

Brake Setting (Mag Dial)

Thanks to the evolution of the magnetic brake, all lures can be controlled solely with the Mag Dial.

  • With the "Spool Play Zero" setting, rely on the Mag Dial scale.
  • A higher number increases braking force, while a lower number reduces it.
  • For beginners:
    1. Start by setting the Mag Dial to maximum.
    2. As you get used to it, gradually lower the Mag Dial. The optimal setting for the current conditions is one notch before backlash occurs.
    3. If lowering to a value below half (scale 10), always lower one notch at a time.
  • Notatka: When the Mag Dial value is small, the braking force is very subtle. Be very careful not to lower it too quickly, as this may cause backlash.
  • Wskazówka: You can further reduce braking (use smaller scale numbers) by combining it with thumbing the spool.
  • Wskazówka: If you feel that the braking force is insufficient even at the maximum Mag Dial setting, slightly tighten the Zero Adjuster to act as an auxiliary brake.
Brake setting diagram
Figure 9: Diagram showing the Mag Dial for brake adjustment, with high and low settings.

Regulacja przeciągania

For right-hand retrieve models, turning the drag knob clockwise increases the drag setting, and turning it counter-clockwise decreases it. (For left-hand retrieve models, it is the opposite). Adjust according to the line used and fishing type.

Casting Precautions

Prawidłowy chwyt: Hold the handle facing upwards (or downwards).

Incorrect Grip: If the handle is held sideways, the impact of casting may cause the handle to rotate and the clutch to re-engage. This is like engaging a gear without disengaging the clutch in a car. In the worst case, it may lead to gear damage. Absolutely avoid this.

  • Using a longer handle or heavier/larger handle knob than standard may increase the likelihood of the clutch re-engaging during casting.
  • Do not re-engage the clutch during casting. Wait until the lure hits the water to prevent damage to gears or ball bearings.

Konserwacja

This product consists of precision parts. Please follow the instructions below for handling. Regular maintenance after each fishing trip is crucial to prevent issues caused by rust and salt buildup. However, ball bearings and gears are consumables, and their initial performance may degrade over long-term use.

For long-lasting performance, we recommend having your reel overhauled by Sports Life Planets Co., Ltd. once a year (paid service).

Procedura czyszczenia

  1. Immediate Rinsing: After use, rinse the reel with fresh water as soon as possible to wash away salt and dirt from moving and rotating parts. If used in saltwater, drying without rinsing will cause salt to crystallize, reducing the effectiveness of rinsing.
  2. Disassembly for Washing: Tighten the drag, remove the side plate, and separate the reel into three parts: side plate, spool, and main body. Rinse each part with fresh water (e.g., shower) for at least 3 minutes.
  3. Dokładne płukanie: Rinse each part from various angles to dissolve and wash away any remaining saltwater or salt crystals inside.
  4. Wysuszenie: After rinsing, reassemble the three parts and thoroughly drain water, then dry. To effectively drain water, operate the handle, clutch, and spool while draining.
  5. Post-Saltwater Use: After saltwater use, wipe off moisture from the spool's outer circumference and inside the frame with a towel. Crystallized salt can damage the spool and frame.
  6. Storage Drying: Loosen the drag and hang the reel to dry in the shade, with the drain hole facing down. Avoid direct sunlight and ensure good ventilation.
  7. Suszenie wewnętrzne: It takes about 5 days for internal moisture to completely dry. During this time, operate the handle, clutch, and spool about once a day.

Important: Do not wash with hot water, submerge the reel in water, or use detergents. This may wash away essential oils and greases, damaging ball bearings, gears, and other critical rotating parts.

Lubrication (Oiling/Greasing)

Note: Applying lubricants other than specified may cause malfunctions.

Zalecane środki smarne:

  • DAIWA Genuine Reel Guard Oil (REV Ball Bearing Oil)
  • DAIWA Genuine Reel Guard Grease

Important: Do not use commercially available rust-preventive lubricants, as they may damage ball bearings and grease.

Spool Ball Bearings (Oil)

  1. Remove the side plate and apply oil to the ball bearing in the center of the back.
  2. Remove the Zero Adjuster and apply oil to the visible ball bearing inside.

Aplikacja: For oil, press the container until a small amount wells up at the nozzle. For spray oil, a brief spray is sufficient. Over-oiling can hinder rotation.

Pinion Ball Bearings (Oil)

  1. Remove the spool and apply oil to the pinion ball bearing on the reel body side. Disengaging the clutch makes this easier. (For spray oil, a brief spray is sufficient).

Handle Knob, Clutch, Line Guide (Grease)

  1. Apply grease to the handle knob as shown in the diagram. (Over-greasing/oiling can reduce performance).
  2. Apply grease to the friction points between the clutch lever and the main body.
  3. Apply grease to the rotating parts on both sides of the line guide.

Spool Shaft (Grease/Oil)

  1. Apply grease to both ends of the spool shaft (indicated by arrows). It is effective to spray grease onto a plastic bag first, then apply it.
  2. Alternatively, apply oil to the spool shaft (indicated by arrows).

Note: Prolonged use without sufficient grease/oil can cause the shaft to seize due to friction with the pinion shaft. Regular, small applications are recommended.

Worm Shaft (Grease)

  1. Apply grease to the worm shaft as shown in the diagram. If heavily soiled after long use, spray oil to loosen dirt, wipe with a cloth, then apply grease.

Rozwiązywanie problemów

  • Gear Damage: Avoid rotating the handle or operating the clutch when the spool is removed.
  • Line Guide Damage: Do not force the line guide by hand.
  • Reel Damage from Lures: Do not hook lures or worms onto the reel, as this can scratch the reel, damage the line, or peel paint due to chemical reactions.
  • Backlash/Reduced Performance:
    • An overly tight Zero Adjuster (tighter than "Zero Setting") can impair the reel's high-response spool performance, leading to reduced casting distance and finesse. Continuous use in this state may cause the shaft to seize and produce a "keening" noise.
    • An overly loose Zero Adjuster (looser than "Spool Play Zero") can cause excessive spool wobble during casting, making the magnetic brake unstable, generating noise, reducing casting distance, and causing backlash. If too loose, the spool may interfere with the frame and cause scratches.
    • Ensure the Mag Dial is set appropriately for your lure and conditions.
  • Clutch/Stopper/Gear Damage: Never turn the handle while the clutch is pressed in, especially if the line is locked.
  • Korozja: Always dry the reel thoroughly after use, especially after saltwater exposure. Store in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight. Avoid storing in sealed, humid environments (e.g., car trunk) while wet. Rinse saltwater from the spool and line.
  • Spool Damage: Do not store the reel with wet line wound tightly, as the line may shrink upon drying and damage the spool. When snagged, do not press your finger on the spool to break the line, as this may deform the spool.
  • Deformation/Failure: Keep the reel away from heat sources. Do not stand on the reel or place heavy objects on it.
  • Uszkodzenia powierzchni: Avoid contact with organic solvents (thinners, benzene, alcohol, insect repellents, sunscreens, insecticides) as they can damage the reel's surface or paint.
